A day of discussion, testing, and advanced technology at ASMPT in Munich, recently renovated for Productronica 2025. Participants: Bticino, AdoptSMT Europe e ASMPT, engaged in a pre-acceptance session dedicated to the integration of the new radial feeding system for PTH components.
Present at the test day:
- Marco Conti – Process Engineer, Bticino
- Christoph Oeckl – Senior Application Engineer, ASMPT
- Markus Menneweger – Head of Operations, AdoptSMT Europe
- Guenther Breckner – Sales Manager, AdoptSMT Europe
A team with complementary skills, united to evaluate a solution capable of increasing efficiency and accuracy on the production lines.
Test objective
Conduct a pre-acceptance test placing a PTC Thermistor component in PTH technology using AdoptSMT’s new Radial Feeder, installed on the new Siplace SX V3 equipped with the advanced vision system Type 53 and Type 56 cameras.
Placement requirements
The test evaluated a series of crucial technical conditions:
- Precise pickup and placement
- Fast feeder supply and easy refill
- Pin parallelism recognition
- Find best acceleration
The solution adopted
The Siplace operated in pick & place mode, performing:
- 2D stereo measurement
- Image processing using SIPLACE vision software
- 3D inspection to verify placement quality
Camera Type 56
DIMM Socket placement
Stationary camera
- High resolution camera as camera type 25 “flip chip” camera
- Large field of view as camera type 33 for large component handling
- 6 times more pixels are available for the same structure
- Improved stereo measurement capabilities:
– Minimum feature size 145 µm instead of 360 µm
– Height resolution 300 µm instead of 900 µm - 5 times faster image processing
Test Results
The component was positioned using both the Twin Head and the CPP Head, without a dedicated nozzle and without prior preparation.
The results were excellent, confirming the reliability of the new configuration, as reported in the following video.
Towards “the factory of the future”
With the integration of the new Siplace SX V3 and the CUT&ROLL feeder on its current production lines, Bticino continues its journey of automation and innovation, strengthening its role as a leader within the Legrand group and aligning itself with the most advanced electronics
production strategies.
A concrete step towards increasingly intelligent, automated, and sustainable production lines.
